Northwood Park Northwood Park Homeowners’ Association University Area Commission 2231 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43201 www.chncolumbus.org • 614-291-6096 Northwood Park is a hidden gem in the University area: six blocks where the trees have only become shadier and the homes have gotten more comfortable. Built between 1905 and 1920 with one slow poke that waited until 1930, all the original housing stock is intact. A variety of styles can be seen on Oakland and Northwood Avenues with the Four- Square being the most common. When the neighborhood was young, Oakland and Northwood were regularly
given the “Most Beautiful Streets” award by the local newspaper,
and the Garden Club keeps that tradition alive by restoring the stanchions
that originally stood on every corner. Northwood Park is a friendly
neighborhood. In addition to the Garden Club there is a Homeowners’
Association and a playgroup for the younger neighbors. Annual events
include a Tour of Homes, held the first weekend in May, and a delightfully
eccentric Christmas charade and potluck. |
