Join in the discovery of Downtown’s Discovery District. An amazing array of cultural, historic, art and educational institutions now thrive. The Discovery District Development Corporation is a group that works “through a proactive partnership of businesses, cultural and educational organizations, residents, religious institutions and public officials.”

The Discovery District has cultural jewel boxes such as the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library with its breathtaking Tiffany mosaic ceiling; The Columbus Museum of Art’s incredible collection of works by international masters of the past five centuries and outdoor sculpture garden; three growing educational institutions — Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD), Columbus State Community College, and Franklin University; plus the Grant Medical Center. Beautiful historic churches dot the landscape.

Outdoor art includes the Seurat-inspired Topiary Garden, CCAD’s ART sculpture, and a Henry Moore sculpture in front of the art museum. History and literature combine at the Thurber House. Fort Hayes, once the local military presence from Civil War days, is now a fine high-achieving high school and career center.

The Discovery District is bounded by Fort Hayes on the north; I-71 on the east; I-70 on the south and Fifth Street on the west.
